1802 Map by Simeon De Witt (Library of Congress Geography and Map Division)

If you're researching an ancestor with the surname Hawxhurst, Hauxhurst, Hawkhurst, Hawkshurst  or several other variant spellings, then  your ancestor is probably the descendant of Christopher Hawxhurst.  Christopher Hawxhurst was the early immigant to Providence Plantation, Rhode Island and  Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York.

Christopher was married to Mary Reddocke  around 1655 in Providence Plantation, Rhode Island.

Most information on the Hawxhurst Family derives from a series of three articles entitled "The Hawxhurst Family" by Robert B. Miller published in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record  in July 1901, October 1901 and January 1902.  This work in part was based on an earlier article in the same publication
and on information in a book The MacDonough-Hackstaff Ancestry written by Rodney MacDonough and published in 1901.

This website is a work in progress.  It is incomplete, and contains unintentional inaccurate information.  In a few cases, there are no reliable sources that are readily availabe.  Please help make this information accurate by submitting your family information, corrections, additions and comments with as much supporting documentation as possible.
